BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM 8.3 vs RCT Power Battery 7.6

Technical comparison · High voltage

In brief

Two high-voltage LFP home batteries, floor-standing. The inverter decides: the BYD has an official list of sixteen compatible brands, the RCT is declared for RCT Power Storage DC inverters, and the two work at different nominal voltages.

The differences that matter

  • Compatible inverters, list of sixteen brands vs RCT Power Storage DC inverters → with the BYD you start from the inverter you already have; with the RCT the pairing is with RCT inverters.
  • Battery voltage, 153.6 V vs 307 V → it has to fall within the range the inverter accepts: check it before buying.
  • Usable capacity, 8.28 kWh vs 6.91 kWh → about 1.4 kWh more with the BYD.
  • Capacity guaranteed after the 10-year warranty, 60% vs 80% → over the same years, the RCT guarantees a smaller loss.

Which one to choose

Choose BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM 8.3 if…

you already own an inverter from another brand, or have not chosen one yet: the official list includes Fronius, SMA, Sungrow and KOSTAL among others, with permitted module count and minimum firmware for each model. It also offers local-network control, full operation without internet and IP55 protection (manufacturer-declared values). The trade-off: the first start-up needs the app, and the capacity guaranteed at the end of the warranty is lower.

Choose RCT Power Battery 7.6 if…

your inverter is an RCT Power Storage DC and the room is sheltered and temperate: 6.91 kWh usable in a 34 × 34 cm footprint, expandable to 15.36 kWh, with a higher capacity guaranteed at the end of the warranty. The trade-off: IP42 and 5 to 40 °C narrow the choice of room, there is no local control, and the usable energy is lower.
