BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM 8.3 vs Huawei LUNA2000-14-S1
Technical comparison · High voltage
The inverter decides this one: the Huawei LUNA2000-14-S1 works only with Huawei SUN2000 and SUN5000 inverters, while BYD lists sixteen brands. If the inverter is already Huawei, the question becomes 13.8 against 8.28 kWh and a 5-year warranty against 10.

The differences that matter
- Inverters: sixteen brands in the official list vs Huawei inverters only → the choice of inverter often settles the choice of battery.
- Usable capacity: 8.28 vs 13.8 kWh → 5.5 kWh more to carry into the evening.
- Warranty: 10 vs 5 years; Huawei guarantees slightly more energy (28.84 vs 25.62 MWh) but in half the time → its 5000 declared cycles go beyond what the warranty covers: 5 years is about 1825 cycles at one a day.
- Without internet: full operation for BYD, reduced for Huawei → on an unreliable connection the BYD keeps working in full. Figures as declared by the manufacturers.
Which one to choose
Choose BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM 8.3 if…
A system with an inverter from another brand (Fronius, SMA, Sungrow, Deye or Kostal, among others), read over the local network and expected to keep working when the internet drops. You accept more than 5 kWh less capacity, IP55 and a minimum of −10 °C.
Choose Huawei LUNA2000-14-S1 if…
A house with a Huawei inverter where the battery has to put up with more cold, dust or water: IP66, −20 to 55 °C. Without internet it only works in a reduced mode, and the warranty runs 5 years.
