Data from official source

Huawei LUNA2000-14-S1 is a high-voltage residential battery with no inverter of its own: it works together with a Huawei SUN2000 or SUN5000 inverter and doesn't generate AC current on its own.

The second battery module works with its own energy optimizer, so the pair's capacity stays close to the rated figure instead of dropping from the imbalance between the two; there's still room for a third module, if more is needed down the line. It charges from solar and, when needed, from the grid, and withstands -20°C to +55°C, even installed outdoors.

The FusionSolar app guides commissioning even without a stable internet connection on site, though the connection then needs to stay up over time for the extended part of the warranty.

03 · Summary

Pros and cons

In favour

  • It's rated IP66: it withstands dust and water jets, so it can sit outside the home too.
  • Still has room for a third battery module, up to 20.7 kWh, without changing the control electronics already installed.
  • Withstands -20°C to +55°C: it installs outdoors too, not only in a heated utility room.
  • It also charges from the grid, not only from the sun.

Worth knowing

  • It only pairs with a Huawei SUN2000 or SUN5000 inverter: with a system from another brand it doesn't install.
  • Ten of the fifteen years of warranty provided for Europe lapse if the system stays disconnected from the manufacturer's online service for more than six months.
  • Charging from the grid has to be enabled in line with the grid-charging requirements set by local regulations.
