BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 vs Huawei LUNA2000-14-S1
Technical comparison · High voltage
Two high-voltage LFP batteries almost level on energy: 12.8 kWh usable for the BYD, 13.8 for the Huawei. What decides it is the warranty, the inverter they pair with and the space they have to fit in. Values as declared by the manufacturers.

The differences that matter
- Warranty: 10 years or 38.53 MWh versus 5 years → at one full cycle a day the BYD reaches its energy cap after about 8 years, inside the 10; the Huawei runs out after 5.
- Weight and height: 205 kg and 146.1 cm versus 148 kg and 87 cm, at almost the same capacity → the Huawei weighs 57 kg less and fits a bay almost 60 cm lower.
- Inverter: sixteen brands on BYD's list versus only Huawei SUN2000 and SUN5000 → with the BYD you keep your inverter or change it later; with the Huawei, battery and inverter are chosen together.
Which one to choose
Choose BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 if…
the inverter is from BYD's list and the battery has to last: a 10-year warranty against 5, with a 38.53 MWh cap that at one full cycle a day arrives after about 8 years. Without internet it works fully. In return it weighs 205 kg and stands 146.1 cm tall, rated IP55 instead of IP66.
Choose Huawei LUNA2000-14-S1 if…
the inverter is already a Huawei SUN2000 or SUN5000 and the bay is low, 87 cm: the LUNA2000-14-S1 weighs 148 kg, is rated IP66 and for operation down to −20 °C. The trade-off: a 5-year warranty instead of 10, no other inverter brands and reduced operation without internet.
