BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 vs Huawei LUNA2000-21-S1
Technical comparison · High voltage
Here the Huawei is the larger one: 20.7 kWh usable against the BYD's 12.8. The trade-off lies in the warranty, which for the Huawei runs out with energy delivered rather than with years, and in the inverter, open to sixteen brands for the BYD and limited to SUN2000 and SUN5000 for the Huawei. Values as declared by the manufacturers.

The differences that matter
- Warranty: 10 years or 38.53 MWh versus 5 years or 28.84 MWh → at one full cycle a day the BYD reaches its cap after about 8 years, inside the 10; the Huawei after about 3 years 10 months, before the 5.
- Capacity: 12.8 kWh versus 20.7 kWh → the Huawei alone covers a demand the BYD in this size does not reach.
- Inverter: sixteen brands on BYD's list versus only Huawei SUN2000 and SUN5000 → with the BYD you keep your inverter or change it later; with the Huawei, battery and inverter are chosen together.
Which one to choose
Choose BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 if…
the inverter is from BYD's list and you want a warranty that covers the whole life of the system: at one full cycle a day the 38.53 MWh cap arrives after about 8 years, inside the 10-year warranty. Without internet the battery works fully. You take 12.8 kWh instead of 20.7, rated IP55 instead of IP66 and operating from −10 °C.
Choose Huawei LUNA2000-21-S1 if…
daily demand exceeds 13 kWh and the inverter is already a Huawei SUN2000 or SUN5000: the LUNA2000-21-S1 gives 20.7 kWh in a bay 123 cm tall, rated IP66 and for operation down to −20 °C. The trade-off: at one full cycle a day the 28.84 MWh cap arrives after about 3 years 10 months, before the 5-year warranty ends; also no other inverter brands and, without internet, reduced operation.
