BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 vs RCT Power Battery 11.5

Technical comparison · High voltage

In brief

Two high-voltage LFP home batteries of similar size. More than capacity (12.8 kWh against 10.37 kWh usable), the inverter decides: BYD lists sixteen compatible brands, while RCT is matched to RCT Power Storage DC inverters. Manufacturer-declared figures.

The differences that matter

  • Inverter: sixteen brands on the BYD list, RCT Power Storage DC inverters for RCT → if the inverter is already there, the choice is often made at this point.
  • Expansion to 38.4 kWh vs 23 kWh → how far you can grow the system without replacing the battery.
  • Operating range -10 to 50 °C vs 5 to 40 °C → a cold garage or a hot utility room rules one of them out.
  • Guaranteed capacity at end of warranty 60 % vs 80 % → what is left after ten years.

Which one to choose

Choose BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 12.8 if…

you already own an inverter from another brand on the official list, you want room to grow to 38.4 kWh, or you are installing in an unheated garage that drops as low as -10 °C. It works fully without internet and can be controlled over the local network. The trade-off: 205 kg to stand on the floor, and a warranty that runs out first on delivered energy (38.53 MWh), with guaranteed capacity of 60 % at the end.

Choose RCT Power Battery 11.5 if…

your inverter is an RCT Power Storage DC, whose declared 120–600 V battery-side range covers this size. It takes 34 × 34 cm of floor, weighs 150 kg, and the 10-year warranty guarantees 80 % capacity at the end. The trade-off: it operates between 5 and 40 °C with ip42 protection, so a dry indoor room that never freezes, it expands only to 23 kWh, and it has no local control.
